Pleasantly surprised by how good this place is.
Tried it for lunch during restaurant week and happy we finally did. Portions were generous, and you can tell the chef put thought into each dish. I had a pear salad with purple pears—fresh and unique. My husband enjoyed the fried green tomatoes with bacon, saying they were filling and flavorful.
For mains, I had perfectly cooked fried snapper with cheese grits and spicy tomato sauce, while my husband said the French dip sandwich was the best he’s ever had. I didn’t care for the flourless chocolate cake.
Service was great but plan for 1-1.5 hours. Spent $70 for two, including tip. Recommend for tourists and locals!
PS. They served the bread for free

Sylvie is the most wonderful serve I have ever had. She always has a smile on her face, sweet and kind with every single customer. Today we came for second time to get breakfast and we asked for her (that’s how good she is) and she remembered about my bf’s fav drinks and what he ordered the day before (crazy to me). We decided to choose the buffet and we didn’t regret, good options and quality food, coffee, apple juice and orange are included. If you like salmon and capers you can find it here and my bf said “I’m in heaven” 😅
We also came here for dinner and food was good, we ordered the she crab soup (first time getting it, it was very tasty and strong flavor, mix of salty with some sweet,, not sure if should taste like that but we liked it) winter vegetable risotto (different but flavorful) and grilled salmon (really good and fresh) and the Crispy Pan Seared Salmon. We enjoyed live music with an exceptional pianist that night

Sylne was one of the best waitresses I’ve ever had. She noticed we had a wobbly table, immediately she got down and fixed the table of its wobbly-ness. She was attentive and charming, often filling our coffee. Food and atmosphere were fantastic. Well worth the money, even just for the wonderful service

We had the amazing she-crab soup!!! Best I’ve ever had. All the food we ordered—fried green tomatoes and Bibb salad etc was top notch!!! And the warm butter cake with ice cream—-great dessert. Highly recommended.

We actually ate here three times during our stay at the Francis Marion. The wait staff and chef are sweet and professional, they clearly love their jobs and enjoy it! The food is very good! We had the NY strip, the Burger, French Toast, Pancakes, and Breakfast sandwich. There are a lot of places to eat in Charleston but this is a place you should not miss!
