The Ryder Hotel was the perfect spot for our wedding room block. The staff was superb…drinks and food were amazing and all of the common areas to hangout with our guests were so cute and quaint. The gear garage came in so handy for renting bikes and retro style goods which I LOVE. The whole style of the hotel just fit our style and feel and we loved it. Morning coffee was delicious and the specialty coffees and baked goods were a daily hit! We loved hanging by the pool. The location was perfect for walking to our venue and just sightseeing downtown. Our guests raved abour The Ryder and loved being able to stroll to the bar or fireplace and find other friends to just grab a great drink with or something to nibble on. The staff was truly so kind and accommodating. I enjoyed every encounter! We will be back!

The front desk did not do the room key right and had to walk a long way to the room to find out there were people there. Two times, we had to go back and forth dragging our bags to get the room key activated right, not to mention she was rude. We went to eat at the hotel restaurant and the two servants were nice but the food was way overpriced and the quality was not good. In the morning we got food and coffee from the coffee shop and again it was overpriced and not good quality. If you have stayed in nice good quality hotels, you will quickly realize that this hotel is not one of those. Save your money and go somewhere worth it.

We visited Charleston for our son’s tenth birthday and are so happy with our choose to stay at the Ryder. We had excellent service for our entire stay and we’re especially grateful to Slay went above and beyond to make our son feel special on his big day. The hotel is a perfect location, close to anywhere we wanted to go. Amenities were awesome and the rooms were very clean and well stocked. We’d definitely recommend The Ryder!

My husband and I just spent 3 nights at The Ryder Hotel. We absolutely loved our stay! The hotel is centrally located and close to everything (we didn't Uber event once)! Service was spectacular. One of the employees, Anthony (at the front desk) went above and beyond to make sure our stay was wonderful. Anthony greeted us with a smile and asked how we are enjoying our stay every time we saw him. Thank you Anthony for going above and beyond! We are definitely coming back!

Our stay at The Ryder Hotel was a series of frustrating issues that no guest should experience, especially at over $500 a night.
First, upon arrival, we found the staff indifferent and unwelcoming, which wasn’t a great start, but we chose to overlook it. When we got to our room, it was unbearably cold, so I set the thermostat to 74°F and left, hoping it would warm up. Hours later, it was still freezing. I called the front desk for an extra comforter, which was delivered. I then asked the attendant to take a look at the AC, but he just said he’d send someone to check it out. Half an hour went by without a response, so I followed up with the front desk, and they assured me a technician was on the way. An hour later, still no technician, and since it was so late, I told the front desk not to bother anymore. Only then, 10 minutes later, did someone arrive, disconnecting “cold water pipes” without any clear explanation.
The next morning, I explained the issue to the front desk, who said they’d inspect the AC. Later, they called, informing us the AC indeed had a serious issue and moved us to a different room. But when I opened the bedding in the new room, I discovered the mattress and sheets were soaking wet. Disgusted, I called the front desk, went down personally insisting the manager see the condition for herself rather than simply send housekeeping to cover it up. The replacement room offered was right next to a loud patio, so we opted for a mattress swap instead.
Throughout all of this, management was unapologetic and only offered compensation after I asked. To make matters worse, the shower in the new room had mold (photos attached). At checkout, we were hit with an undisclosed $35 daily amenity fee, which they waived given the terrible encounters but just be aware.
This hotel lacks accountability and genuine care for its guests. Numerous reviews describe similar experiences, yet the hotel management’s replies appear copy-pasted and insincere. For those considering a stay, beware—this place is not worth it. The Ryder Hotel requires serious changes in its management approach, please do not stay here its terrible and not worth the price in fact not worth coming at all.
