Cute cafe but lowkey a scam. Their menu prices are outdated and everything is several dollars more expensive now. The pastries were ok although the vibes were good. Would not recommend the pecan pastry but the pan au chocolate was decent.
It’s sort of scummy how they purposefully kept menus with much lower prices. So, eh.

I would not choose this place for food but for drinks! Matcha was great and the space itself is very cute to sit down and work or take a break in between exploring DT Charleston.
All the food I ate there was not tasty, unfortunately. Kitchen is not their priority imo. Spent $33 for matcha, pecan swirl and a melted cheese sandwich.
However, the staff was very nice and game my order quickly. There is seating where you can put your laptop and work which is great for inviting your partner for a meeting. Also the building of this cafe is a fancy hotel so all the surroundings and bathrooms are amazing! Same building is a restaurant Iron Rose.
I would come back to work on my laptop and have chai latte!

When you pay almost 20$ for an iced brewed coffee and a chocolate brownie you expect something awesome served with a smile and special attention. The coffee from most fast foods are equal or better, the brownie was very good but if the staff could of thrown it at us instead, that could of put a smile on their faces. When you go into a nice hotel you expect wonderful happy employees. I guess the owners of the hotel are not the same of the cafe?

I was on a girls trip with my elementary/high school friends and we stayed at The Mills House. It was absolutely beautiful! The atmosphere, amenities, pool and staff were all A+. I went to The Black Door cafe every day to get my coffee and the staff was amazing. They went above and beyond to make me feel special - especially Akaria, Fufu and Nef. They were all so sweet, kind, courteous and provided fast, friendly service with a happy, positive vibe. I follow a low carb diet and was so happy that they had sugar free vanilla syrup and heavy whipping cream. I was on vacation, so I splurged with my friends and we shared the chocolate croissant and the chicken biscuit. Both were DELICIOUS! I would go back to Mills House again if I make it back to Charleston and I highly recommend it to anyone who is considering it!

Black Door Coffee. A lovely, Black-owned coffee and pastry shop located in the heart of Downtown Charleston. They serve delicious croissants and other good eats along with tasty coffee ranging from cold brews to Cortados. I was a fan of how rich and smooth the flavors were and the service was excellent. The servers were very attentive and had no problem explaining anything to me. They’re a smaller cafe, but they have quite a few very comfy seats. Be sure to account for parking when visiting here because space can be at a premium Downtown. This is a small issue though compared to how nice it is inside and I would come here often if you’re downtown !
