Very nice bakery in town.
We just picked up some pastries to take on a boat ride so didn’t expect much. Wow!! Palmier was the best palmier we ever had!
Typically it’s flat but this one was crispy outside but inside was soft and flaky.
We went back on the way to the airport to pick up some of palmiers, cinnamon twist and 3 big cookies.
Coconut pound cake was good. Pricing was reasonable.
Definitely not to miss this place when you visit Charleston.

Nestled in the charming streets of Charleston, South Carolina, Saffron Restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience that truly stands out in the vibrant food scene of the city. From the moment you step inside, the warm and inviting ambiance welcomes you, setting the stage for a memorable meal.
Our server, Adrianne, exemplified what great service should be. Her pleasant demeanor and genuine kindness made us feel right at home. She was attentive without being intrusive, expertly guiding us through the menu and ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our visit.
Now, let’s talk about the food—an absolute highlight of the evening. I ordered the chicken sandwich, which was nothing short of immaculate. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, and flavorful, nestled between freshly baked bread that had just the right amount of crunch. Accompanying it was a side salad that was surprisingly generous, making it feel like I had two meals in one. Each bite was a delightful blend of freshness and flavor, leaving me thoroughly satisfied.
Stephen opted for the turkey club with fries, and he was equally impressed. The turkey was thickly sliced and accompanied by crisp bacon and fresh toppings, all piled high in a way that made each bite a delicious challenge. The fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned, providing the ideal complement to his sandwich.
The ambiance of Saffron adds an extra layer to the dining experience. The decor strikes a balance between cozy and chic, with warm lighting and tasteful decor that fosters a relaxed yet refined atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend hours enjoying good food and conversation.
Lastly, we couldn’t resist taking a look at the pastry selection, which was nothing short of incredible. The display was enticing, featuring an array of decadent treats that tempted us to save room for dessert. Although we were too full to indulge that evening, it’s clear that the pastry offerings are a must-try for future visits.
Overall, Saffron Restaurant exceeded our expectations in every aspect. From the delightful service provided by Adrianne to the impeccable food and charming ambiance, it’s a place I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Charleston. Whether you’re looking for a casual meal or a special occasion, Saffron is sure to impress. We can't wait to return and explore more of their menu—especially those tempting pastries!

The Saffron Restaurant & Bakery was around the corner from our hotel. A five minute walk. We went early on a Saturday morning and it was not crowded. We all enjoyed our breakfast meals. The omelets were very good as was the egg biscuit. The biscuits are large, very large. I couldn’t finish mine. The biscuits tasted just right. Easy to swallow, not dry at all. The croissants looked beautiful and are gigantic. They’re very tasty with the perfect light crunch. You can eat inside or outside. We ate inside and the waiter was quick to take our order and bring the food. As I mentioned, it was early and few people were there. Coffee is good. Wide selection of tea bags. The pastries/bakery items on display take center stage. Be sure to buy a pastry item to eat later. You’ll be happy you did. Prices were reasonable for breakfast. We didn’t eat lunch or dinner there so my rating reflects breakfast only. There is an overall 4 star rating as there is another bakery restaurant we went to for breakfast that we decided was just a bit better, and a bit more pricey. That said, we would return to Saffron to eat again. Definitely very good and yummy food. I’d like to return to try their lunch menu too. Give it a try and write your own rating. 🙂

The host and server were very outgoing and helpful when we asked for suggestions. We had a sampler dish and then kabobs that we're both amazing!! We asked for the chef to come out as my wife wanted to tell her thank you and then a photo. If we were local we would certainly visit again. Was a little slow when we visited, no music or anything so atmosphere wasn't overwhelming. But understand sometimes nothing is better that what might offend some. Overall great 1st time experience!!

We went to Saffron to pick up some pastries & coffee before heading back home. When we got inside, there was a line to order at the front. We waited for a bit, but they were so busy. It looked like there was a conference going on and the whole conference chose to eat there lol. Servers were going back and forth from the tables through the line we were waiting in to get to the kitchen. Service was timely and the person at the cashier was nice.
I just ordered the Strawberry Croissant and Cheese Croissant. Both pastries were fantastic. Both were flaky and not too sweet. The filling in the strawberry croissant was great. Once I started, I finished them quick lol. My friend got some of the day old pastries too and those still tasted great. I was impressed at what we got and if I'm ever in the area again, I'd come back.
