Truly enjoyed our breakfast this morning. Even though they seemed short staff the wait was not bad. The food was great. The gravy was just ok to me. But everything else was on point. Will def come back and try more things.

Not Worth the Hype
Tried Ruby Sunshine after a friend's recommendation. Service was friendly and the place was clean. Sweet tea was super sweet (great if that’s your thing). I ordered the shrimp and grits—unfortunately, it was swimming in a heavy rosemary butter sauce that overwhelmed the dish. No real flavor balance, just greasy and unappetizing. Took two bites and couldn’t finish. Let the waitress know, but got no apology or offer to replace it—just the check with the full charge. Definitely not the experience I expected.

Our experience felt more like a diner with a nicer menu. We arrived ahead of our guests and sat at the bar to wait on the rest of our party. I was hoping to sip on a mimosa while waiting, but no one asked if we wanted anything while we waited. Love the location on East Bay in Historic Downtown Charleston. I really enjoyed the Cobb Salad and thankful for the healthy option offered with that on the menu. My husband had the Costa Rican Bowl (?) with rice beans eggs and plantains. This was a nice option for variety. He felt it could have used more seasoning and spice. Daughter loved her 2 different benny's and our son enjoyed the chicken on the sweet heat chicken and french toast bites. The french toast bites reminded me of buttery sweet croutons. Much too much oil soaked into them. Our waitress was pleasant and efficient.

I was floored by how good my meal was. The server was an absolute delight. She was very friendly, and helpful with answering questions about menu items.
She truly shined with the (Southern Charm) I have always heard of.
