The food was delicious. My only question was why are they using seed oils for cooking when they cook whole hogs daily and make their own pork rinds. No way you don't have enough lard to fry with. That was kind of a bummer. Food was good though. Wings were excellent.

We enjoyed a late-lunch here over the Christmas holiday while visiting family in the Charleston area. I was very excited and had high hopes after watching the Netflix BBQ show featuring Rodney Scott’s BBQ. Gotta say the food was a little underwhelming! In their defense it was during the holidays and they were getting near closing time. We had burnt-ends, pulled pork, chicken, potato-salad, sausage & coleslaw. The pulled pork seemed almost ground….it was okay. The chicken was excellent and moist! Sausage, potato salad, burnt ends & coleslaw was good.

We decided to make Rodney Scott’s BBQ our first stop when we got to Charleston and we’re happy we did. We tried the pulled pork sandwich, the smoked chicken wings (with Kathy’s BBQ sauce), and the brisket sandwich. Everything came out really fast and i appreciated the depth of flavor, especially from the smoked chicken wings. I can see how their efficiency combined with the strong flavors makes for a great local option for BBQ and a great family option as well.

I've had a LOT of ribs in my time, yet nothing like Rodney Scott's. Simply outstanding pork ribs—meaty and flavorful. If you like sauce on your ribs, great, but you don't need it with these. They are moist and stand up on their own with no help needed in the least. The collards are also among the best I've ever had. A slight sweetness with the flavor that comes from the meat they're cooked with. If you haven't found collards to be a favorite, you'll change your mind with these.

Great restaurant. I love the pit glowing in the night, showing the real pit experience. Service was outstanding all around from the time I walked in. I had the three meat combo with collard greens, mac and cheese, and cornbread. The meats I chose were whole hog (everything chopped together), brisket, and pork ribs. The whole hog and brisket were excellent. You could pull the brisket apart with a fork. The ends of the ribs were fall off the bone, the larger pieces a little tougher to eat. The cornbread was brushed with butter. I could eat the collard greens by themselves. The mac and cheese was okay. I got a bag of skins to go. I'm not really a fan of the banana pudding. I tried three of the four available sauces: The Rodney sauce (a little kick of spiciness); the Mary sauce (sweeter), and the Other sauce (that is what it is called) no real feel for it. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience
