We were walking around downtown Charleston looking for a place to eat, not knowing much about where we were. We looked up and selected to walk to Poogans, hoping for some good southern BBQ. After walking around for a while, we arrived. We were seated quickly and the server was there within minutes to wait on us. The dining area was a little warmer than I would have liked it but not so bad it ruined the experience. Food was really good, the pork and turkey was really good. The ribs were good, but not great, harder to chew than I usually like for ribs but still had good taste. I would recommend this stop for one of your meals while in Charleston.
This evening marked the second delightful occasion I had the pleasure of dining at her restaurant in Charleston. The service was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall warmth of the experience. The food was exquisite, each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The ambiance was inviting, with soft lighting and a charming decor that perfectly complemented the meal.
Poogan’s Smokehouse is an absolute gem for barbecue lovers! Their ribs are incredibly tender, packed with smoky flavor, and cooked to perfection. The barbecue is just as amazing—juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The appetizers were just as impressive, setting the tone for an unforgettable meal. Every dish was expertly prepared, and the flavors were spot on. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is friendly and attentive. If you’re looking for top-quality Southern barbecue in Charleston, this is the place to be. Highly recommend!
After having a phenomenal meal at Poogan’s Porch, we decided to try Poogan’s Smokehouse for a quick bite before dinner. We liked the BBQ vibe here. We munched on the pulled pork tacos. They were very good. I’m sure dinner here would be a BBQ lover’s dream! We just didn’t have time to try it out. They have a full bar if you’re looking for an adult libation! I spotted an RC cola and drank one for the first time in 50 years. Tasted just like I remembered. If you’re looking for some original southern BBQ then this would be the place to try. I recommend Poogan’s Smokehouse to all!
Absolutely AMAZING! Food was DELICIOUS! Staff was friendly and welcoming. Will be back! I had the smoked pork nachos. Substituted the chicken for the pork. I also used the mustard sauce, so yummy!
