Wow! Madelyn was our server and she was great ! On point, funny, informative and just all the things ! This place was so cute ! Atmosphere is adorable and Madelyn’s rec’s were great. The pimento cheese fritters are a DO NOT MISS THESE appetizer - no matter how you feel about pimento cheese ! I had the chicken and waffles which was yummy, some had the tomato pie omelet. The biscuits are so light and fluffy they almost float off the table. Highly recommend you go !

We had such a delicious brunch. The Pimento Cheese Fritters are So good and I can’t say enough about the bacon jam that accompanies them. The chicken and waffles is next level….Can definitely be shared as it is a big portion. We tried their award winning Shrimp and Grits and they didn’t disappoint. Our server, Julie, was wonderful and showed us what Southern hospitality is all about!

Came into Poogan’s today after a night at The Mill House. We had a 5 star breakfast all around. Zack took care of us and the service was wonderful. We ordered she crab soup, crab cakes, chicken and waffles and fried green tomatoes. It was all really good with the highlights being the soup and the chicken and waffles. Zack sold us on the dinner choices so we will definitely be back to try those next time we are in town. Thanks again for the hospitality and great food!

It’s hard to even give this place 4 stars but I will for one reason. Skip dinner and go straight to desert. This is the best pecan pie I think I have ever had. It was amazing. Worth just coming for that.
I did their shrimp and grits and cannot figure out how they are award winning. The grits were congealed and not creamy. The gravy seemed like it was meant to cover everything up and didn’t have great flavor. It just did not win my over. I was hoping this would have done it for me. I had better grits while in Charleston in appetizers than in this dish.
My wife had the chicken and waffles. The batter had good flavor but it was a lot. The syrup/jelly didn’t seem to add much to the dish and we had to ask for more since it was so dry. Not a great waffle.
We spoke to another couple before coming and they mentioned that they got the meatloaf and short rib and were sorely disappointed.
The pimento cheese fritters were good (except one had no cheese in the center)
Come for the desert but not the food would be my advice.

My girlfriend put in a reservation for brunch at Poogan’s Porch at 1pm last Saturday 4/26. This was our first stop in Charleston for my girlfriend’s birthday trip. We were blown away with everything this restaurant had to offer. The aesthetics were cozy, classic, clean, and vibrant. I’ve been working in the service industry for 12+ years and our waitress Campbell was the best waitress we’ve ever had. Her personality and passion is truly something special. It seemed like Campbell was on the same wavelength as us. She made us feel right at home and she was extremely attentive. Campbell and Poogan’s Porch left a great impression of what Charleston had to offer. The food was amazing and the best we had on our 3 day trip. To drink we had the Pineapple Mimosas which were delightful. To start off we had the Pimento Cheese Fritters. The fritters were crisp, cheesy, and flavorful. The bacon jam took the fritters to a whole other level. We were also given some biscuits to start off and they were the best biscuits we ever had. The biscuits came with a sweet butter that complimented them well. The biscuits were fluffy, buttery, and did not leave a dry lump taste in your mouth. For entrees my girlfriend got the Fried Chicken Sandwich which was a home run. The chicken was mouthwatering, juicy, crispy and stacked to perfection between the brioche bun. The Cajun Remoulade and Bacon Jam worked in tandem tremendously for that sandwich. I got the Shrimp & Grits which was fresh, savory, and flavorful. The only thing I wish the Shrimp and Grits had was some more spice or kick to it but all in all a great dish. I also had the biscuits and gravy which were tremendous although I did want them a little more salty. We didn’t have room for dessert but that Peach Cobbler sounded delicious. All in all Poogan’s Porch gets a 5 star rating from us. Thank you Campbell and Poogan’s Porch. We will definitely come back when we are back in town.
