Very cool historic house. I really enjoyed the self guided audio tour, after the main blurb about the spot you’re in, you could choose to listen to a bunch of extras or not! I like having the choice. Crazy to me that the doors were painted to look exactly like mahogany, but are just regular wood even though the family had enough money for the real thing 🤣 Lots of interesting facts about this place and all the workers were very sweet.

This was my first tour of this kind. The gardens are beautiful. The restoration is nicely done, and we admired the carpentry and details. A round room with rounded doors is certainly something to appreciate. The staircase is a thing of art as well. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and very patient in answering our questions and giving us time to view each space. Honestly, it was a tough experience, but I'm glad we visited.

Just keep in mind, you cannot pay with cash. They are still working on the kitchen in the back, doing excavations and rebuilding. The rest of the house is breathtaking. The iPod self guided tour is very informative. You are not allowed to climb the beautiful stairs thoughðŸ˜

We were told by our tour (that we did around the city) that this was her favorite house to tour if you're in the area. We only had time to see one so this is the one we chose. We loved the option to do an audio tour in your own time. What an amazing, well-maintained, beautiful home. Definitely go to the back of the house to the slave quarters that they are in the middle of renovating. It's very interesting. The garden next to the house is also worth walking through.

My sister and I took the tour of this gorgeous old home. I highly recommend taking the tour as you learn a lot about the history of the home, the family, the architecture and furniture. The grand spiral staircase alone was worth the price of admission.
