My wife and I visited Melfi’s for her birthday a couple weeks ago and we had a great time here together and enjoyed our dinner a lot. The espresso martini was amazing here! Best one I’ve had so far. Melfi’s menu was amazing from their options and we wished we could’ve tried more, but we will have to next time. The reason for me giving 4/5 stars is due to our service we received from our waiter. When he originally approached us he didn’t seem like he cared for us there, he didn’t ask what brought us into Melfi’s tonight when on the reservation I put in it was my wife’s birthday. We were not looking for anything free, but expected a higher level of good customer service at least and welcoming. Everybody else that assisted us from this other waitress who brought our food out and the manager was very nice to us. They made it pleasant there. Our waiter was extremely slow and showed no care in urgency. The table next to us when they sat down even noticed how our waiter was and we heard them talking about him which we were glad we weren’t the only ones. We felt like he knew he would get a tip and didn’t care about our dining experience. That didn’t ruin our dinner at all, but something I definitely wanted to bring up especially for the amount of money we spent here. Overall, we enjoyed our food a lot, but the service we received from our waiter was not matching to our great food.
Sophisticated atmosphere with authentic Italian drinks and food. The "Beautiful Salad" was so fresh and delicious and balanced out the richness of my entree, Cacio e Pepe. My husband had the spicy Caesar salad with the pork and veal bolognese rigatoni. Our meals were perfection.
Melfis blew me away! Truly superb— you cannot go wrong here! We ate like kings and tried as much as we possibly could. Our server was funny and so helpful. It was one of those meals you think about week later. Not just the quality of the food though; the whole experience. We sat on the back patio which was nice and intimate. It was warm outside but they had very powerful ceiling fans so we were actually chilly (outdoors. In the summer. In Charleston.) *** the sort of spicy Caesar salad IS spicy. Curiosity got the best of us and we tried it but wimped out lol

Each bite was a symphony of texture and taste, showcasing the care and craftsmanship behind the dish. No Italian meal is complete without dessert, and Melfi’s Tiramisu was a triumph. Layers of mascarpone and Italian custard were as light as a cloud, beautifully contrasted by the robust espresso-soaked ladyfingers and a dusting of sharp cocoa powder. It struck a flawless balance between sweetness and depth, leaving a lingering note of satisfaction. Melfi’s is a must-visit for anyone exploring Charleston. Each dish reflects an unwavering dedication to quality and authenticity, making it a destination that deserves to be at the top of your dining list.
Came to Melifs tonight with an 8:30pm reservation to celebrate a promotion. Food is fantastic. We had the bruschetta, crab pasta and Bianca pizza with a bottle of white wine. Definitely strong Italian food. All of it wonderful. Really disappointed in the service. Our server was absent for the entirety of the meal, popping by from time to time, always late to check in on how we liked the food or wine. A different man (likely a manager) dropped our appetizer, but he was so absorbed with chatting with the table beside ours while doing it that he literally dropped it on our table, head turned away from us and didn’t even acknowledge. Had to move plates from out from under it as it clattered down. We were seated at a beautiful table by the window that was quickly forgotten about by our server. It was thinning out and we were in a corner, but it was clear they forgot a table was there. It took a tremendous amount of time for the order to be taken, wine to be delivered, and the like. Definitely unimpressed for our first time at such a revered establishment. Food was wonderful though, so props to the kitchen.
