Absolutely fantastic experience at Mario’s Italian Ristorante in Charleston! We ordered the pizza, pasta Bolognese, and an arugula salad, and every dish was phenomenal. The flavors were authentic, fresh, and perfectly prepared. The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and made us feel like valued guests. Highly recommend this gem for anyone craving top-notch Italian cuisine. Five stars all the way!
If you're in the mood for some tasty Italian food, go here! Service was excellent, food was exceptional, everything came out very quickly, made to perfection and they handled picky eaters (kids who wanted changes to dishes) in our family flawlessly. The pizza was really good, fresh bread was great. I had the lasagna which was excellent, my wife had the gnocchi gorgonzola which I was jealous of! The pasta Alfredo was very tasty as well. I would stop here again in a heartbeat! If I lived here this place would recognize my voice on the phone, they would definitely be in the permanent rotation. I highly suggest eating here.
It was when we had taken our last bites that I realized that Mario’s needed a review! Everything was delicious, service was excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect for my family of 5. Our server Alex was great! Great food in Charleston!

The quaint and inviting atmosphere made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. The warm decor and cozy setting set the perfect backdrop for our meal. We started our culinary adventure with the Frittura di Calamari, and I must say, it was fried to perfection! The calamari was tender and lightly breaded, and it paired beautifully with the tangy marinara sauce and a squeeze of fresh lemon. It was the ideal appetizer to kick off our evening. We indulged in the Spaghetti Alla Carbonara and the Pizza Crudo for our main courses. The Carbonara was an absolute delight, featuring a rich blend of pancetta, onions, and freshly grated Parmesan, all brought together with a luscious egg yolk and cream sauce. Each bite was creamy and flavorful, truly capturing the essence of traditional Italian cooking. The Pizza Crudo was equally impressive, with its fresh mozzarella, savory prosciutto, and peppery arugula drizzled with high-quality extra virgin olive oil. It was a perfect balance of flavors that left us wanting more. The only hiccup during our meal was our request for black pepper to accompany the Carbonara, which unfortunately never arrived. However, the deliciousness of the food more than made up for it! Mario’s Italian Restaurant exceeded our expectations with its fantastic food, charming ambiance, and attentive service. We saw this said “Family owned” so us 5 girls from Iowa had to stop & try. FABULOUS food!!! Very fast service! Extremely friendly owner/staff. We had Alfredo, lasagna, & bolognese spaghetti. My friend said it was also the best margarita she’d had in years. Very small place but your food comes fast n is phenomenal!
