I am SO happy that Magnolia was my first stop when I went wedding dress shopping!! Lawton was so sweet and welcoming. The location is beautifully decorated and set up perfectly for a big reveal each time you try on a dress. Once I picked my dress and veil, Lawton did such a great job measuring me that I almost didn't need any alterations. The dress is GORGEOUS...I fell in love with the lace, the low back and the buttons. As soon as I put it on, I knew it was the one.... and **bonus** it was incredibly comfortable. I put it on around 3pm for pictures and didn't take it off until well after midnight. Thank you Lawton and Magnolia Bride for the PERFECT wedding dress!
While this doesn’t seem like the norm for Magnolia Bride based on their reviews, I wanted to post my experience today so that others can be aware: I came down to Charleston this weekend from CT to celebrate my 30th with my future SIL & have her share the dress try on experience with me. In November when looking at shops to book, Magnolia seemed perfect. She booked under her name and put her credit card down in case of cancellation . Since it was originally scheduled under her name instead of the bride (me), she had tried reaching out several times in the weeks leading up to today via phone and leaving voicemails, none which were returned. She was not sent any confirmation email or call, nor did anyone reach out asking any information typically needed for an appointment such as styles liked etc. We both tried calling again yesterday (1/17) with no answer or call back. After seeing that they posted a story on Instagram, she replied about not receiving any confirmation and it went unseen. We decided we were going to try going this morning and if it was a loss it was a loss. We called the number per the directions on the window. It rang twice and went to voicemail. 5 minutes later, the associate working, Emily, came out to check if we were another scheduled 10:00 appt. When we told her we were not and told her our story, she said the phone number goes to the owners cellphone and that’s why it probably wasn’t picked up because she had a lot going on. If the owner is not in store, why would the phone go to the owners cell phone instead of someone who can open a door? Luckily the scheduled bride was a no show and Emily was able to accommodate us. Unfortunately because of the mix up, the vibes felt unsettled the entire appointment. I also felt it was a little strange that the dressing room is also shared as the office space. What was supposed to be a 90 minute appointment lasted 35 minutes where I tried 4 dresses on (one I did love but due to the communication was weary of ordering since this was my experience just with making an appointment). What would have happened if the original bride did show up? I am very grateful that this wasn’t my first bridal experience (which may have also impacted why I was in and out) because nobody deserves this for theirs. I hope things get figured out so this doesn’t happen to other brides, as we were so excited for this experience to be something it was unfortunately not.
Magnolia Bride of Charleston was an absolute dream experience! I was surprising my best friend & taking her dress shopping. The store owner Lawton was wonderful on the phone & texting in advance to confirm details. When we arrived at the store & Emily let us upstairs to the shop ~ it was like stepping into a fairytale ~ an out of the movies experience! The dress selection was impeccable with amazing price points! Each dress was so special & unique! Emily could not have been kinder & more attentive. She was so knowledgeable & wonderful! I absolutely loved how there were the perfect amount of dresses to select from ~ each carefullly curated & intentionally placed. Not an overwhelming amount that could be laborious to look through. I can’t wait to see which dress my friend chooses because each & every one was incredible! If you are dress shopping in Charleston ~ this is the place! ✨🤍
This is the GO TO spot to find your dress!! An awesome unique stock of dresses and a stylist that makes you feel ultra comfortable. The quality of the dresses is top notch, and we've seen ALOT of dresses at this point. Her private label is so beautiful, differentiated, and fabulous. I cannot get over how amazing this place is, it really knocked our socks off.
Upon entering, I was asked if we had been to other wedding dress appointments, and of course I had, because if you don't shop around, then you run the risk of settling! As soon as I said yes, that we had been to other appointments, I felt the mood change. We were a later afternoon appointment, so maybe they were exhausted, but I definitely didn't feel like we got a similar experience everyone else says they had here. The dresses are beautiful and decently priced, I found quite a few that I really liked a lot!! The trying on was not the best experience as the rack was super tall, and I had to tippy toe to get down and hang my own heavy dresses back up, while at other locations the stylist helped with all of that. The clips were minimal, so I didn't feel like the dress was sitting correctly, which gave it a different feel altogether. I didn't feel like we got any input from the stylist when trying them one either. Unfortunately, the experience and negative feel for how the dresses fit pushed us away, and I ended up finding a dress elsewhere.
