This place is amazing! The food was absolutely delicious, and the portions are big and satisfying—you definitely get your money’s worth. There was a bit of a wait when we arrived, but it was totally worth it.
They offer a great variety of options and a ton of sauces to customize your meal, which makes the experience even better. They also serve alcoholic beverages, which is a nice bonus if you’re in the mood for a drink.
The atmosphere is great, and the whole place has a fun, lively vibe. We highly recommend this spot and would love to come back again!

LOVED IT. 5 stars all day. Brisket was as good as any I have had and I have had many of the best. Ribs were great too but maybe not the absolute best. Homemade sausages had snap and flavor. GO Here if you can!

If I could give Lewis Barbecue in Charleston six stars, I absolutely would! As Texans, my family and I have high standards for barbecue, and Lewis Barbecue exceeded them all.
Food: The brisket was tender, juicy, and packed with smoky flavor—truly some of the best we’ve had outside of Texas. The turkey breast was equally impressive, moist and flavorful. Our kids couldn’t get enough of the creamy mac ‘n’ cheese, and the collard greens had a delightful tang that added a unique twist. We topped off our meal with their pudding, which was the perfect sweet ending.
Parking: The only challenge was parking; it’s quite limited with just a few street spots and some business lots down the street. Arriving early or considering alternative transportation might be helpful.
Despite the parking situation, the overall experience was phenomenal. Lewis Barbecue brings authentic Texas-style barbecue to Charleston, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking top-notch barbecue in the area.

Ribs were top notch, loved the amount of pepper they use. The green chile smoked sausage is an awesome menu item, but didn’t like the original hot guts sausage sadly. The lean sliced brisket was just a tad dry, the fatty sliced brisket was on par with good Texas style bbq. Oddly I didn’t love the chopped brisket which I thought I would have but maybe I didn’t get enough fatty pieces to keep it moist. The fry’s were really good, The potato salad and mac weren’t the bees knees but still good options. The star of the show was the corn pudding tho, I could order a tub of that definitely recommend the corn pudding.

I am so glad that upon my arrival in Charleston, this was my first stop we arrive just as they opened what that means is that we benefited from being earlier in the line. If you’re a barbecue fan, this is a must try. From the brisket to the turkey. Everything on the menu was delicious. We ordered so many options that we were stuffed and we were able to be shown the smokers at the back where all the magic happens. The staff were very friendly and educate you about what they do. And you could tell by how packed the place was these guys know about barbecue. This is definitely somewhere I plan to return to if I’m in a Charleston area.
