My husband and I enjoyed a delightful dinner after seeing the name change (3-27-25) He had wanted to dine here prior, but my previous visit four years ago, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, was less favorable. I generally avoid Italian and Mexican cuisine due to digestive sensitivities, and the restaurant was under different ownership and management at that time. However, under the new management, the quality and taste of the food have noticeably improved. We even ordered a second serving of bread, although the first was complimentary.
I savored the veal piccata, while he relished the spaghetti and meatballs. The portions were generous and the food was exceptional. Our server, Sarah, provided outstanding service, graciously answering all our questions.
While I previously rated my first visit three stars, I've happily updated my rating to five stars following this recent, much more positive experience. Thank you Sarah and the entire staff.
PS.... we used the info from maps to call to see if they were open since they changed the sign earlier that day so we weren't sure if they were open. They must have been seating someone and they quicklycalled us back! So we headed over and enjoyed the meal. (We use maps to check the menus and read other reviews. We know everyone had different tastes but seeing the photos also helps to pick a place)

The service and the food was delicious. We will definitely eat here again when we visit Charleston. If you live here or plan on visiting Charleston and want good Italian food I highly recommend La Fontana Authentic Italian Restaurant. I ordered the Caesar Salad & the Lasagna Al Forno. My husband ordered the special, it had the Lasagna Al Forno, Chicken Parmesan, Eggplant Parmesan and Fettuccine Alfredo. He loved it all.

The food was mediocre at best. Lasagna meat tasted very odd and the chicken piccata didn’t have much flavor. The martini menu featured only 4 normal flavors. We were very disappointed, we love authentic Italian food. My husband is Italian…

If you’re looking for good Italian food made by an Italian family that really knows what they’re doing this is the place to come. They have a sampler that will blow you away that includes four different types of food and each bite was better than the last. Everything that we have tried here has been amazing and on top of the food the owners are just so welcoming that you feel like you’re eating in a family home in the countryside of Italy. Highly recommended and don’t forget to get the bread…. it’s homemade and you have to be careful….you may just fill up on it and it would be a shame to not have room for desert.

For starters I'm so excited to have an authentic Italian restaurant in West Ashley.
The food was delicious. The espresso martinis were divine. To top it all off service was amazing and very accommodating. Can’t wait to go back and try different pastas.
Highly recommend giving this one a try!
