Best restaurant in all of South Carolina. The best shrimp I have ever had! Highly recommend the fried shrimp, chilled shrimp, fried fish, and just about everything else the menu offers. You won't be disappointed. We loved the vibe of the restaurant and how nice & welcoming all the staff were. The owners even came by our table a couple times to make sure we were having the greatest dining experience we could. It really went above & beyond in my book. I completely understand why this restaurant has such a high rating and so many amazing reviews...because this place is amazing! Oh and I have to give a shout out to our fantastic server, her name was Tierney B. She crushed it. Service was perfect! I will be talking about the fried shrimp the rest of my life. Thank you for giving me faith back in the hospitality industry. Truly a wonderful experience. There was a bit of a wait when we arrived but it moved quick and they even offered hot hush puppies to those waiting. Such a lovely touch. 100/100 would recommend!
Hyman’s Seafood is a beloved Charleston institution that truly lives up to its reputation. I had the chance to visit during a recent trip to South Carolina, and from the moment I walked in, the restaurant’s rich history and welcoming atmosphere stood out. The walls are lined with photos and signatures of celebrities and notable guests, adding to its charm and legendary status. I ordered the classic shrimp and grits along with the fresh catch of the day—both dishes were expertly prepared, showcasing the restaurant’s commitment to quality and flavor. The seafood was exceptionally fresh, and the seasoning was spot-on. The bar area, while cozy, had a vibrant energy that added to the overall experience. I’d gladly return on my next visit to Charleston.
This establishment was phenomenal! The environment was very welcoming, comforting, and clean. The central location was very convenient as well. The food was absolutely delicious! The Carolina Delight with the bacon and cheese was mouthwatering, creamy and savory. The build your own platter was full of choices and delicious. The best scallops I have had in a very long time and that says a lot from this New England Girl. The steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned to the Gods. This was our first time and certainly will not be our last. The service was exceptional from Emily S, definitely ask for her when you come. We truly tip our hats to the chefs, the owners, and all the staff, thank you so much!
The food here was spectacular!! I honestly came for all the raving reviews and they did not disappoint. The hush puppies have a delicious breading, the shrimp extravaganza plate was amazing, the fish was so fresh and those potato wedges were so yummy. We can't wait to come back! The only problem we had was checking in with the hosts. We understand a popular place like this would have a wait, we checked in and they let us know we could visit the market down the road and come back within a 45 min-1 hour window. We did just that and returned within 45 minutes. The host we had previously checked in with said we may be on another list and to grab a seat and they would call us soon. Another 15 minutes go by and we decide to check back in, only to find out we had been called while we were at the market. This could've been avoided if the hostess we checked in with had simply checked with the other hostess. They did sit us immediately but I would definitely recommend a better check in process, especially for the amount of people that are waiting outside.
5 stars all around. Every member of staff we came into contact with was kind and curteous. Even when people came 15 minutes after their name was called for their reservation the hosts were calm and kind and had them seated without any hiccups. Michael warmly greated and sat us upstairs - great young man. Daniel was our server - we really enjoyed being in his presence - we appreciated his kindness, humor, and hospitality! The food was very good! Loved everything we ordered (she crab soup, corn ribs, shrimp n grits - with bacon & cheese 😍, fried oysters, and bloody mary). No room for dessert - we'll have to come back, oh darn 😉! We also appreciated Tobias (owner/partner) coming by and connecting with us for a moment - a genuine kind sir! Loved the conversation cards too - already sharing with family. We thank you for a well rounded wholesome experience. We will remember our time spent together!
