High Wire Distilling Co. is a true gem for anyone looking to experience the essence of the Low Country through craft spirits. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by the warm ambiance and the inviting atmosphere that perfectly sets the stage for a memorable tasting experience.
Mike, the bartender, was nothing short of impeccable. His knowledge of the spirits and their origins added a personal touch to my visit. He expertly guided me through the tasting, sharing the fascinating story of Jimmy Red corn, which is at the heart of High Wire's offerings. This unique corn variety, with its rich history and connection to the region, truly embodies the spirit of the South.
The flavor profile of their spirits is remarkable. Each sip revealed layers of complexity, showcasing the craftsmanship behind every bottle. The smoothness and depth of flavor reflect the dedication to quality and tradition, making it evident that High Wire Distilling Co. takes pride in their craft.
Overall, my experience at High Wire was a delightful journey through the flavors and stories of the Low Country. I highly recommend stopping by for a tasting and to chat with Mike—the experience will leave you with a deeper appreciation for the artistry of distilling and the rich cultural heritage that inspires it.

Let me start by saying that this little hidden gem is an anomaly among downtown spots as they have parking on site! If you can’t find a spot, there is tons of free parking directly adjacent to the building. I ended up here for a cocktail class and was totally bummed my schedule did not line up with staying for the distillery tour.
High Wire combines two of Charleston’s most renowned attributes: drinking and history. The staff as so knowledgeable about the history of liquor and cocktails, it is so impressive. I got my fix of enjoying craft cocktails, while also learning about the history of the cocktail and how it has evolved through time. I cannot recommend this place enough to locals and tourists alike. I can’t wait to attend another cocktail class!

Great afternoon here!
Jay was a knowledgeable host and bartender. Even though it wasn’t tour day, we got lots of local info and filled in about the distillery. The Jimmy Red whisky flavor profile is very different due to the unique grain they use.
The cornbread skillet appetizer was beyond good.
Spend an hour or 2 here.

We tried a few drinks and I have a new favorite called the Boulevardier. The bartender explained the drink menu very well. The Hire Wire bourbon and whiskey were very good.

Had a great tour by Jay. Very informative and wonderful to learn about the company and their ambition to create and maintain a local product.
Additionally, I came for the Bourbon but stayed for the ham sliders.
They were beyond amazing and the garlic butter carried them there.
