Let me start by saying that this little hidden gem is an anomaly among downtown spots as they have parking on site! If you can’t find a spot, there is tons of free parking directly adjacent to the building. I ended up here for a cocktail class and was totally bummed my schedule did not line up with staying for the distillery tour.
High Wire combines two of Charleston’s most renowned attributes: drinking and history. The staff as so knowledgeable about the history of liquor and cocktails, it is so impressive. I got my fix of enjoying craft cocktails, while also learning about the history of the cocktail and how it has evolved through time. I cannot recommend this place enough to locals and tourists alike. I can’t wait to attend another cocktail class!

High Wire Distilling Co. is a true gem for anyone looking to experience the essence of the Low Country through craft spirits. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by the warm ambiance and the inviting atmosphere that perfectly sets the stage for a memorable tasting experience.
Mike, the bartender, was nothing short of impeccable. His knowledge of the spirits and their origins added a personal touch to my visit. He expertly guided me through the tasting, sharing the fascinating story of Jimmy Red corn, which is at the heart of High Wire's offerings. This unique corn variety, with its rich history and connection to the region, truly embodies the spirit of the South.
The flavor profile of their spirits is remarkable. Each sip revealed layers of complexity, showcasing the craftsmanship behind every bottle. The smoothness and depth of flavor reflect the dedication to quality and tradition, making it evident that High Wire Distilling Co. takes pride in their craft.
Overall, my experience at High Wire was a delightful journey through the flavors and stories of the Low Country. I highly recommend stopping by for a tasting and to chat with Mike—the experience will leave you with a deeper appreciation for the artistry of distilling and the rich cultural heritage that inspires it.

Amazing tour by Alexander! We went to Louisville and went on a bunch of tours and this tour was 1000x better! Whiskey lovers will really enjoy this. Go at 2pm when they're still distilling. Really interesting to hear how they started and picked the red corn grain. Good drinks too in general. Gin gin bang bang was a good gin drink!

James Beard Award drew me to this place. And they had it right. Absolutely loved the bourbon. The place, the distillery is impeccable. We went just before evening and were serviced by two lady bartenders who were very knowledgeable, kind and got their recommendations absolutely spot on We tried the flights and then a boulvadier- loved the detail that for the cocktails most of the ingredients they try to get the best ones and sometimes end up making themselves. Place deserves more reviews, respect and more . The bourbon is a must purchase - $78 a bottle

Go here!! If you're in Charleston and want a distillery that is actually making good stuff, meant to be enjoyed and explored and not just buried in an artificial cocktail, this is the place. After being very disappointed at another local distillery, we went here and got a flight, cocktail and snack. I immediately bought two bottles and took the tour. Katie did a great job explaining things simply as well as giving nerdy details. We will come back here every time we're in the area.
