This restaurant is one of Charleston’s top tier and has been so for many years. It rivals with Oak Steakhouse for the city’s best steaks. It’s high end from decor to service to dishes and of course to prices. It’s an expensive restaurant and it’s hard to escape for less than $100 pp if you have an appetizer and glass of wine with your steak and side. Sides are gigantic and can be split amongst the table. The steaks are really very good indeed and are all prime cuts. Service is excellent and the noise level, even with a full dining room, is low enough for normal conversation. It has a convenient location in the city’s market area and parking is available nearby. Reservations are a must and they will din your credit credit if you are a no show. Wine list is extensive and there are a fair number available by the glass. Not much for vegetarians and definitely not a vegan friendly restaurant. We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Favorites are the escargot appetizer and the filet. We give it five stars or 4.5 clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale
The service was excellent, and the food was awesome! The portions were over the top generous and leave you plenty to take home. My filet mignon was perfectly cooked, very tender and delicious. Beautiful and elegant atmosphere you'd expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Our waiter was very friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. Though the prices are high, you don't mind paying for excellent food and service, I highly recommend this place!
Have dined here often, tonight was an off night for Grill 225. From the start the waiter seemed aloof, not common for 225. The Apple Maritini was not aligned with 225 standards. Did not have the taste of a good apple martini, too sweet and little evidence of any vodka. Onion soup was not hot, cheese was lumpy, disappointing as it is a favorite. Had two different salads, my wife's was average to poor with lettuce not fresh. My Caesar's may have been frozen then thawed, no taste! Had to wait ten minutes to get a second glass of water, not sure why as the Grill was quiet. Both of our steaks were great, flavor was right and cooked nicely. For a top tier Charleston restaurant, average to poor service and quality of drinks, soup, and salad. Oh and yes, the waiter did appear to become interested as the meal progressed. Will probably not return.

The food and atmosphere were amazing. Our server was very knowledgeable with our wine selection and food choices. Did I mention the food was amazing?!? Appetizers, entrees and dessert. I couldn’t have asked for a more pleasurable experience. You must see my images with names of the dishes so YOU can order!
