Beautiful space, wonderful exhibitions, right in the heart of Charleston. It was a surprise to discover that Sundays are free. The museum was lively with activity but didn’t feel crowded. Locals and tourists alike. Vibrant hands-on art creating for all ages. We got to chat with an artist in residence and enjoyed lunch from a great food truck right at the front steps.

Went on their initial Open Mic night off spoken word. Great local talent with a feature artist. This night, the museum is also open 5-8PM/free. Beautiful museum with interesting exhibits. Gift shop had good offerings as well. You're also able to purchase artists work. Staffing friendly and helpful.

The Gibbes Museum is a treasure in French Quarter Charleston! With an array of galleries, this place is a great place for a solo visit to peruse and look at interesting and thought-provoking art. Friendly staff to assist with questions. We installed our “Tree of Every Color” for Art Charleston, an art festival happening in and around The Gibbes! It’s cool to be apart of such a wonderful artist community!

The Gibbes has been on my list for a while and my kids were finally big enough to enjoy the collections. It is not a big museum, 8 galleries, and I really appreciated that. It is easy to navigate and you can see the whole museum without rushing. The permanent collection was filled with local pieces and information. My kids and I learned a lot while we were there and enjoyed exploring. The staff was friendly and engaging. I would definitely recommend stopping in!

This place is spectacular! We came on a Tuesday morning and it was perfect. There were a few tours and visitors, but it was quiet enough to enjoy. We came specifically for a couple of the temporary exhibits, but we were also amazed by the permanent collection! The building is beautiful as well. Overall, we were very impressed by everything and we’ll definitely be back.
