This seemed like a very popular place as there was a line going outside the door. The pictures online of the desserts looked absolutely amazing. While we were standing in line, we looked on our phones and realized you could order pickup. So we actually did that while we were in line and were able to get our items before the people that were standing in front of us. Like we literally skipped half the line, if not more. So I would highly recommend doing that. The atmosphere was really cool but there was not a seat to be had because it was so busy. Even the seating outside was taken. Which isn't a bad thing for the business. But we took our desserts and went back to our hotel. I was expecting it to be absolutely amazing and I would say it was just average. But I would try something different if I was in the area to see if I liked something else better and to see if it's worth all the hype.
This place, I mistook for a dessert place, is actually a bar that has premade desserts, cakes, sorbets, lattes, and gelatos. I got the banana pudding cake which was in a plastic cup. It’s a good size for 2 people but a little much for just 1 person. The small cakes looked stellar but didn’t taste good. They have a bar but I’ve no clue how that is as I don’t drink. The banana pudding tasted great but the Tiramisu was just a whipped cream dried cake mess. I guess the place doesn’t really live up to its hype! Maybe recommended for giving a try once but not my pick for a 2nd visiటీ.
What a great spot! We only indulged in their desserts and gelato, but the sandwiches we saw looked amazing! Clearly it is a favorite among the locals! Staff were so friendly and great place to relax for a bit! They also won me over by having surfing in the TV! Desserts were so delicious, just the right amount of sweetness. Great prices for portions too. Gelato flavors were so hard to choose from!
This is a must stop spot in Charleston. From the sorbet, to the many amazing treats of interesting flavor profiles, to the focaccia bread pizza, sandwiches, many alcoholic beverages made with ice cream.. everyone will find something to drool over. Quaint little place where your belly up to the cashier just passed all the meticulously made with love treats, this place has a long history of its founders.
We make it a priority to stop into Carmella’s any time we visit Folly. The staff is always friendly and ready to help with a smile on their face. We ordered a large cannoli cake this time to celebrate my boyfriend & daughter’s birthday. It looks as amazing as it tastes!
