Loved this place when I went to visit. They made the best pretzels of all time! Sadly they decided to take the pretzels off the menu. I’d absolutely give them 5 stars if they brought them back.
If you are looking for a hole in the wall, off the beaten path, you will find it at Big Johns Tavern. We used to frequent in college, so we stopped in recently and were pleasantly surprised. The new ownership has taken significant steps to keep the memory of the original alive. I'll definitely be back!
We have been here before and enjoyed it but this time we could definitely tell it has changed (ownership?). They barely offer any food outside hamburger and hotdogs. No more of the delicious clothesline bacon on a rack. They should remove it from their listing as it was one of the reasons we brought our family from out of town here .We ended up skipping eating here and went somewhere else for dinner. The staff was friendly.
We stopped here after a carriage ride. It was chilly outside but this place was warm and inviting. We had great service and our server was attentive. We enjoyed the dip, white Alabama sauce wings and the dry rub. The dry rub was too salty for my liking but they were crispy wings. Great place to watch football game.
I had a great time! I came to watch a football game and the staff & my experience was great. Abby was my bartender and she was so helpful and kind! She made drink suggestions as well as answering any questions I had! I’m new to Charleston and it was such a fun environment and the drinks were great. I’ll definitely be back, I really enjoyed my experience.
