Firstly, I never write reviews, but I will for them because I truly believe in this facility and they deserve 5 stars. I'm not basing this review off one PT facility experience, but comparing them to my first PT facility since I previously hated PT because where I'd gone elsewhere for my first ACL surgery they were just so-so, I didn't feel comfortable or encouraged or that they paid much attention to me (won't name them to be polite). I had none of those problems at BenchMark. And I initially picked them because they are just around the corner from my job. I lucked out! I was going to BenchMark PT on and off this year for 2 injuries and working on them at the same time - before and after an ankle surgery (chronic ankle instability) and a knee surgery (ACL revision). Lucy was my main therapist (awesome manager!), and sometimes I had Sydney, or an intern doing their residency (Dan and Emma from MUSC) who were very good, knowledgeable, and energetic to learn from Lucy (who was a good teacher). They are all great at what they do and super friendly and supportive of my efforts to get better. And Kaitlyn (spelling?) who works at the front desk was always smiling and helpful. They all gave you their attention and answered all my (and others') many questions, all while having a daily full schedule of clients they were also helping, all at once (2 to a therapist). Busy women! Lucy understands if someone had to cancel at the last minute or ran late (I'm sorry!) and helped work around that if they had the time based on the next appointment(s). They play music the patients like to keep the mood upbeat, have an end of the month staff theme day, and decorate for holidays and seasons, keeping it an inviting and good-humored atmosphere, all while still being professional at all times. Sure there were rough times for me with some exercises and pain levels, and they could be difficult, but Lucy and the others would remind me not to push until it was painful. And if you've ever been to PT you'll know that that's just how it is, the beginning is the hardest and they get you to do your best to hopefully not have pain at the end and they helped me get down to a 1.5 out of 10 (pain scale)! Today was my final day of PT for my knee, I had finished my ankle earlier, and I was sad I "graduated" because they made me smile (I'm not a morning person) and feel for real that I was improving and achieving something because they did help me achieve my goals. But I'm also happy that I exceeded my expectations of how fast and well I've recovered. Thank you everyone for being such upbeat, nice, caring, knowledgeable, and all-around great women who helped me get better in the time I had allotted to me. I would recommend BenchMark PT to anyone looking for a great and welcoming facility for PT for any issues they have and for a convenient location in downtown Charleston (and they take insurance and workers comp). [I will say that the only negative is the small parking lot - it is ridiculous to try to park there around lunch time so try scheduling around that time frame! But it's shared with quite a few other businesses and is not under BenchMark's jurisdiction or control/ not their fault, so that won't affect my review since it isn't part of their business.] Thank you again, ladies!!! Excellent experience!!! helped me tremendously over several months and kept me from having to take more extreme measures, like surgery, for my back pain. Not only helped me in person, but showed me how to continue to stay well with a specific exercise regimen at home. Wonderful people who want to help you heal and succeed.
The team is fantastic. I cannot give them enough kudos for all of their help in my recovery. Highly recommend them all for their hard work and efforts on my behalf.
Benchmark (on E Bay) provided excellent therapy! They (Lucy and Dan) are extremely knowledgeable and patient, and listen to concerns and questions. They taught me so much about my challenges and how to work toward maintaining the progress that I made while in their care. They offer post care options at the clinic, as well.
I had an excellent PT experience at Benchmark following a hip replacement. Thanks to Kati’s exceptional knowledge and expertise, I am now able to function pain free! This is the first time PT has been successful, having had previous unsuccessful PT over the years at other PT locations which resulted in surgery. I would also like to give a shout out to Dale who was also instrumental in my progress. This location is conveniently located, maintains clean equipment and most importantly provides a friendly atmosphere with committed employees (including TJ, who in addition to everything else she does, plays great music for the patients!). I will definitely return if I ever have another need for PT!
