They NEVER answer their phone. Kara Gay's nurse specifically. I've had to wait months to get a call back, trying to get access to my adhd medication and even my antidepressant meds. I figured out I have to call the front desk to get on her ass, and then all of a sudden I'll hear back from her. Front desk is inconsistent too. The psychiatrist was fine, but if you don't want to have to worry about going through withdrawal symptoms, I would go through a more reliable office.
They required a $100 down payment to schedule and then sent me an email about 3 hours before my meeting saying the appointment was cancelled and to call if I had questions. The phones don’t ring in the offices so you’re required to leave a voicemail and wait 24-48 hours for a response. I was thankfully able to finally get my refund by physically going to the office, but the managers did not speak with me and were not interested in correcting any problems they have.
Dr. Spencer is great. He sees you as an individual not a statistic. I genuinely feel like he cares about me. His assistant, Dawson, is awesome too. He is always responsive and gets things done with a sense of urgency.
I have been to many psyche offices but this was my best experience yet! I absolutely loved my visit at Barrier Island Psychiatry; it is so clean and beautiful inside, and the staff was incredible. Everyone was so kind, thoughtful and helpful. I was seen right away with no wait time as well and was in and out in an efficient matter. My psychiatrist, Jenny, made me cry happy tears by how validated, comfortable and seen she made me feel. I feel like I am truly going to get the help I have needed for years now and that is a miracle. I am very excited to continue my treatment here.
I see Jennifer Hayes here and she is thoroughly outstanding. I cannot recommend highly enough. She is engaged, she evidently cares about her patients, and she sticks with you through trials and tribulations. She is committed to getting you better on terms acceptable to you.
