CAUTION!!! To anyone considering going or sending your family member here, please take a moment to read (all statements below are my personal opinions and experiences and are meant solely to educate those looking to send themselves or their loved ones to this facility). I would like to start off by saying that people do recover and get well here. I have seen this happen many times with my own eyes, but this is an extremely small percentage of the people who enter this place. I know that under new leadership, this place is causing much more harm than it is promoting good, and there are MANY better options (the founder himself passed away do to complications of drug use not long ago, and the place has been downhill since). Most of the good reviews you see come from before this all happened. Please do not consider this place unless all other options are exhausted. I went here on four separate occasions (as this was the easiest place for me to get into, not out of a true desire to be there or belief that the program worked), and my review is solely personal experience, and not an attempt to tear the place apart. However, as sad as it is, this place is now hurting people more than it is helping. Including a fatal overdose of a resident that occurred at one of their satellite properties. (Week of 04/14/25). I can say from my personal experience that this place has two goals: one is to make as much money off of you as possible, and two, to take away all power of choice one may have coming in. To expand on the first, they will tell you whatever it takes to get you in the door (By this, I mean lying to you; however, this is not unique to the Hope). Please take time to visit and talk to residents away from the staff before going there. Their goal in my opinion is to get you to stay there as long as possible not to go back to the real world (in the interest of money not recvery) Further expanding on the second goal, you will be torn apart for any choice you make or idea you have that does not totally align with theirs. I have been told and heard others told things such as: "you will die", "your family will never speak to you again", and things that Google will not allow me to post. Beyond those two points, be aware you will be eating expired food from the lowcountry food bank program, will be sleeping on a childs size bunkbed with a plastic mattress, will be in a room of up to 8 other people, will NOT be allowed access to your phone (DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU ARE TOLD ON THIS POINT), you will have to argue and beg to see a doctor for even the simplest of things (Ear infection, stomach bug, etc.), and outside help such as therapy and psychologist IS NOT PROMOTED they will fight you tooth and nail to take you to a prescheduled appointment, and if you dont have one already will not be any assistance in making one. I have also seen people with my own eyes who have suffered falls, medical emergencies, and needed more medical help than they could offer (which is none), encouraged to stay, told not to leave, or totally ignored. They will lie to you and your family and use both against each other for their agenda. There is no medical personnel on site in any form whatsoever. Please take the time to visit and see the conditions yourself before going. Ask questions about everything and don't just take what they say as true; ask to see for yourself. Everything I have mentioned in this review is from personal experience, and while I believe there is a possibility of recovery here, this should be an absolute last resort option. The Charleston recovery community is well aware of everything I have said here. Go to an outside AA meeting if you visit and ask a couple of people about it (if they are not currently there or just left, you will hear the truth).

CRC was my 11th attempt at some type of professional treatment for my heroin/fentanyl addiction. I’ve tried everything you can think of to get help…inpatient stays, detoxes, outpatient, IOP, methadone clinic, suboxone, vivitrol, therapy… you name it, I’ve tried it. I was a chronic relapser and nothing ever worked for me. I thought i was doomed with no chance at all to ever get better. My family sent me to CRC as a last ditch effort, and thank god they did. It saved my life. It’s unlike any other rehab I’ve ever been to… not only was i taught about WHY i have this problem, but i was taught the SOLUTION. All of the staff there are great… especially Jett and Rob. They deserve a raise, for reallll. I have over 100 days clean now (which is the longest amount of clean time I’ve had since i was 12 years old.) This place has been a huge part of the miracle that’s taken place in my life and I am so so thankful that I ended up there.

This was my first full go at rehab and I couldn’t have picked a better place. The staff and residents here really help you to work thoroughly and find the root of your problem. I have made many friends I can consider family at this point while attending the Ashely Hope. I have found the true meaning of happiness in life.

First time in recovery and this place saved my life. Is very thorough with the big book and really teaches you about the beauty of sobriety. Staff is amazing and diligently helps with anything and everything. I’ve never had an experience like this and it was the best thing that ever happened to me ! Will forever be grateful for this place and so thankful for all the staff and the fellowship💖

Charleston Recovery Center was a totally different journey compared to treatment centers I had gone to in South Florida. It’s a comfortable, family feel that gives you the time, space, and peace to heal. I was able to get to the root of my disease and build a fellowship of amazing people that are so important to me!
