First time in recovery and this place saved my life. Is very thorough with the big book and really teaches you about the beauty of sobriety. This time last year, I was feeling completely hopeless and desperate. I saw no way out of the vicious cycle of my life as an alcoholic and opiate addict. I didn’t think it was possible to change the way I was living. I truly believed, and sometimes wished, I would die this way. And, then what I now see as God doing for me what I could not do for myself, I accepted a life-changing opportunity and entered the 90-day residential recovery program at Charleston Recovery Center. Upon completing the 12-step spiritual program, my life started to change for the better. The peer-on-peer environment helped me navigate through the challenges of addiction and discover a path to lasting recovery. The combination of community and spirituality empowered me to overcome obstacles and embrace a fulfilling life in sobriety. Today, I have Hope. I get to be happy, joyous, and free…feelings I once did not think were possible. I will be forever grateful for my experience at Charleston Recovery Center.
Charleston Recovery Center was a totally different journey compared to treatment centers I had gone to in South Florida. It’s a comfortable, family feel that gives you the time, space, and peace to heal. I was able to get to the root of my disease and build a fellowship of amazing people that are so important to me!
The Charleston Recovery Center (“The Hope”) saved my life. I came to the program as a broken-down, aging, desperate and defeated alcoholic. Open arms, immediate attention to my comfort, a welcome ceremony like no other - made me keenly aware of being placed in the midst of something very special. It wasn’t long before I concluded that the key to the program is its peer-to-peer model; everyone, from new residents to seasoned staff, is a product of The Hope. Members of the community work one-on-one, helping each other take the 12 steps of recovery. Shared experiences and a common problem with a common solution inform deep confessional conversations in a safe, protected space. Miraculous changes emerge. Folks become bright-eyed, more energetic, more engaging and extroverted- funnier! Unlikely friendships blossom. Group meetings erupt in belly laughs over the absurdities of the past. In my two years of association with The Hope, I’ve witnessed the miracle in case after case. It produces a “high” unmatched by any mind altering substance.
Charleston recovery center changed my life. I've been in the grips of my drug addiction for 20 years and entered into countless rehabs and detox centers. The Hope gave me what I had always been missing, a relationship with my higher power and the fellowship of real friends that I can share life with.
