Rusty's is a wonderful shop with great ownership and management. I am a hobbyist and was treated like I was a pro when I came in while vacationing in the area. The guitar selection ranges from very high end to quality budget models for folks like myself. Either way, they don't sell crap. I bought one electric guitar and exchanged it same day for an acoustic because I changed my mind. The manager Chris was great about it and made sure I got exactly what I wanted. I highly recommend this shop.

I took my pedal board in as it was not functioning. Chris Andrews/ Manager was just amazing. He troubleshooted the issue right on the spot and made it functional once again. Chris is extremely knowledgeable and Rusty's Cool Guitars has the best in equipment to. Go check out their store today!!!

Vacationing in Charleston and found Rusty’s Cool Guitars. Walked in & was immediately made to feel at home in their tucked away shop by Chris the Manager. He gave me a tour and led me to their acoustic collection while explaining the different brands available. No high pressure or sales pitch, just a thorough overview of Rusty’s inventory. Played several guitars and found one that fit my needs (Eastman PCH2-D) but had to leave due to scheduled events. Came back to Rusty’s a few days later found the Eastman acoustic still in stock with Chris ready to send me home with this “All-Weather” Gem. Chris put a new set of StringJoy Foxwoods on it, free of charge, while I waited and the whole process was seamless. This guitar store staff has incredible hospitality and I will not hesitate to follow them on-line to see what’s in-store or stop by again in the future. Do yourself a favor and look up Rusty’s Cool Guitars if you’re in the market or area. It’ll be worth it!

Rusty’s is a must-visit for all guitarists in the Lowcountry or, like me, anyone who has just started learning their way around a fretboard.
They have a great selection of unique instruments and amps; a pedal room you could spend hours in; and, most importantly, a friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and judgment-free staff.
I was visiting family in West Ashley and brought along my new electric guitar I purchased a few months earlier (from a different, larger vendor). The guitar had started to develop some electronics issues with a pickup cutting out, buzzing, etc. I called Rusty’s to see if they could take a look at it during my short time in Charleston, and Chris said he could probably fix it up that day if he wasn’t busy. My brother and I went to the shop that Friday once I got in town, and Chris remembered our conversation as soon as I walked in. He got to work on it immediately (while still juggling a couple customers) and, to his word, not only fixed my guitar that day, but improved the poorly wired electronics the guitar came with from the factory. While he did that, we were able to browse the store, spend some time in the stomp shop, and chat with other staff and customers. Chris pulled me in throughout the repair to show me the issues he found, and my brother and I were on our way back home that afternoon.
The entire process was smooth, reasonably priced and professional. In all, it made me a repeat customer even though I live out of state!

Took my guitar in for a tune-up and restring due to fret buzz. The ringing was still there when I played in the store. Dude lied to my face saying he fixed it. Grabbed a guitar off the wall and compared it to mine. "Oh now I hear it", he says... smh. Adjusted the saddle on a few strings and it was gone. My entire fret board from the fifth fret down now rings. DO NOT GO.
