One of the best tasty “Smoked BBQ Ribs” the smell and flavor was perfect. Hush puppies were great!!! Like a quick service, sit wherever you like, walk to the counter to order, they bring the food to your table and enjoy your meal, which was great no need any tradition serving style. You feel more relaxing to eat that way. Very good BBQ here. I recommend this place if you visit Charleston
I'm not sure what a James Beard award means but it was quite enough for me to want to check out Rodney Scott BBQ when I was on holiday in The Low Country of South Carolina. When I got out of my car I could smell the smoker and it was a delicious aroma. I ordered quite a few things including ribs, pulled pork, brisket, Mac n cheese, collards, apple pies and pulled chicken. To fully engulf myself in the experience I even grabbed a bag of pork skins. The service was good. The atmosphere was great with very good music and just a open dining area. The food itself was good. The brisket was cooked perfectly but could have had more salt and pepper. The mac was great. The ribs had great smoke and pull but lack a little on flavor but still good. The pulled pork was probably the biggest let down. It was dry and lacked flavor. The pork skins was perfect. Overall the food was good but not memorable. The sauce (all of them) was not flavorful at all. If in the area I would certainly return and grab my faves off the menu. Oh and the brisket chili was really good
We visited here today and the food was very delicious! We ordered the Two Meat Combo and drinks. We had the brisket and ribs and you get to pick two sides. I had baked beans and collards. My husband had Mac & Cheese and collards. The tray comes with yummy cornbread as well. You can sit outside or inside for your dining pleasure with various sauces to choose from. We sampled them all.
Go visit Rodney Scott for what they are famous for which is their whole hog BBQ. It was fantastic and so where their ribs. I would give it 6 stars if only rating the pork. The service was great too. They quickly noticed our interest in BBQ and offered us a pit tour which was awesome. The brisket was average at best. The Chili was even less great. Their chicken wings were surprisingly good for a BBQ place. Crisp and moist.
Tender brisket, perfect fat balance. Smokey, juicy ribs(could it used more rub). Smoked turkey was moist. Awesome beans. Sweet cornbread. Hush puppies fell short. Staff were great! Cool place. Totally recommend.
