The food was good but not great. The crab cakes were soft, like opening a can of tuna, frying it for a minute and then serving it. The description for the silk pie was 'rich chocolate' but it very light in flavor. We also tried the strawberry shortcake and found it dry and bland. I would skip dessert here. Truthfully in this city, there are better places to go for what we spent.

The food is good. And I like soft crab cakes! They might go with less salty! Try the fried green tomatoes or the asparagus spears. She-crab soup is orgasmic. Try it and tell me if I lie! Desserts are good, artistic.

My wife and I did a lot of eating out while on vacation and let me tell you High Cotton was the best place we ate. The crab cakes were delicious! Brussel sprouts were cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. Our lobster tail was meat candy and wish we ordered more! Finished the dinner off with some strawberry shortcake which was the perfect night cap! Don’t get me wrong, there are some great restaurants in Charleston but High Cotton was easily our favorite! A must stop!

Very nice ambience... old school with big windows very classy... Servers were nice and friendly but not engaging and warm... Food is well prepared... had the fried green tomatoes… you get four tomatoes for the price of $18 with pimento cheese and a little bit of sauce... very good. Lobster mac and cheese is an A+, the shell shape pasta and cheese mixture was perfectly creamy not too heavy... not too light… a nice, condensed mixture and the lobster taste was not overwhelming with small chunks. The crab cakes were average, not much flavor and overall underwhelming. Wine selection is great but WAY overpriced. For example, a bottle of Jordan Cabernet was... $189 dollars for a $40 bottle of wine and you can get the same bottle next door at Magnolia’s for $80 The corkage fee quoted when I called was $35... when we got there, they raised it to $45! The most expensive corkage fee I have ever paid… living in Los Angeles and going out to some of the best restaurants in the country… never have paid that much for corkage. Overall… would recommend High Cotton for a special occasion, but expect to pay $$$$... If you are looking for the same type of food + quality at a much better price, there are other options in town, including Magnolia’s next door.

Sooo yummy! We had an awesome dinner at High Cotton for our last night in Charleston. Delicious drinks and food. The oysters were fantastic and the she-crab soup was to die for! Our server was Alexandra and she was awesome and attentive! All the staff is constantly walking around offering more water, helping to bring out meals and clearing up plates. Everyone had a smile on their face! Highly recommend!!
